“ਜੀਵਨ, ਨਾਟਕ ਅਤੇ ਰੰਗ-ਮੰਚ: ਅੰਤਰ-ਸੰਵਾਦ” ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ‘ਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ
ਗੋਲਡਨ ਜੁਬਲੀ ਸੈਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਲੜੀਵਾਰ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮਾਂ ਤਹਿਤ, ਅੱਜ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵਿਖੇ ‘ਜੀਵਨ, ਨਾਟਕ ਅਤੇ ਰੰਗ-ਮੰਚ: ਅੰਤਰ-ਸੰਵਾਦ’ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ‘ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ-ਵਕਤਾ ਵਜੋਂ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਰੰਗ-ਕਰਮੀ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਨਾਟਕਕਾਰ ਸੈਮੂਅਲ ਜੌਨ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਧਾਰਨ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਨਾਟਕ ਦੀ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ-ਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਰੰਗਮੰਚ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਲਾਮਈ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀ ਤੱਕ ਦੇ ਰਚਨਾਤਮਕ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਮੁੱਲਵਾਨ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਤਜ਼ਰਬਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਕਾਰਾਤਮਕ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵਨ ਜਿਊਣ ਅਤੇ ਅਪਣੀਆਂ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਚਾਨਣ ਦੇ ਅਹਿਸਾਸਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵਨ ਹੰਢਾਉਣ ‘ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਤਕਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਨੋਜਵਾਨ ਪੀੜੀ ਤੋਂ ਨਵੀਨ ਸਮਾਜ ਸਿਰਜਣ ਵੱਲ ਨਿੱਗਰ ਯਤਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਟੀਮ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਨੁੱਕੜ ਨਾਟਕ “ਸ਼ੇਰ ਤੇ ਗਧਾ” ਦੀ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀ ਵੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ, ਜਿਸ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ, ਆਰਥਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਕ ਪਰਿਸਥਿਤੀਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਤਿੱਖਾ ਵਿਅੰਗ ਕੀਤਾ। ਨਾਟਕ ਦੇ ਕਲਾਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਦਾਕਾਰੀ ਇੰਨੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਸਮੂਹ ਦਰਸ਼ਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਾਟਕੀ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀ ਦੇ ਕਾਇਲ ਹੋ ਗਏ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ-ਵਕਤਾ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਲਾ ਤੇ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਦੇ ਅੰਤਰ-ਸੰਬੰਧਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਨਾਟਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਕਲਾਮਈ ਪੁਨਰ-ਸੁਰਜੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸੋਚਣ ਦਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਜੋਕਾ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਿੱਜਵਾਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਵਿਰਤੀਆਂ ਅਧੀਨ ਵਿਚਰਦਾ, ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਸਰੋਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬੇਮੁੱਖ ਕਿਉਂ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਡਾ. ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੰਧੂ ਨੇ ਬਾਖ਼ੂਬੀ ਮੰਚ-ਸੰਚਾਲਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਭਿੰਨ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਪੜਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਨਿਭਾਈ ਗਈ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ‘ਤੇ ਰੌਸ਼ਨੀ ਪਾਈ। ਡਾ. ਵੀਰਪਾਲ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ-ਵਕਤਾ ਸੈਮੂਅਲ ਜੌਨ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਸੰਘਰਸ਼, ਕਲਾਮਈ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਰੋਤਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣੂੰ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਸੈਮੂਅਲ ਜੌਨ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਗਤੀਵਾਦੀ ਲਹਿਰ ਦੀ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਦਾ ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਵਾਰਿਸ ਦੱਸਿਆ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ-ਵਕਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਲਜ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਚਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਵੀ ਭੇਂਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਸ਼ੈਲੇਂਦਰ ਸਿੱਧੂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਧੰਨਵਾਦੀ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਕਹੇ ਗਏ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੋ. (ਮਿਸਿਜ਼) ਪੂਨਮ ਮਲਹੋਤਰਾ, ਡਾ. ਮਨਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ, ਡਾ. ਦਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ, ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਬਲਵੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਡਾ. ਹਰਚਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਵੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਸਨ।

Expert Talk on Life, Drama and Theatre held at Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala
A special talk on the topic ‘Life, Drama and Theater: A Dialogue’ was held today at M M Modi College, Patiala as part of the ongoing Golden Jubilee Celebrations. On this occasion, a well known creative artist and learned orator Samuel John shared his valuable experiences with the students, shed light on the varied aspects of life and theatre and the different ways the two are interconnected. He inspired the audience to lead life in an optimistic manner and laid emphasis on realising one’s social responsibilities. Through the enactment of a street play by his team, he made a pungent satire on the social, economic and political situations of the present times.
Welcoming the guest, Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar said that drama is an artistic reenactment of life itself. He also stirred the thought that evading his social and moral obligations, today’s man is becoming more and more individualistic and self-centered.
Dr. Gurdeep Singh, Head, Punjabi Department conducted the stage and cast light on the social role that literature has played in elucidating the different aspects of society. Dr. Veerpal Kaur introduced the guest and talked about his life struggle, artistic journey and achievements. Prof. Shailendra Sidhu presented the vote of thanks. Prof. (Mrs.) Poonam Malhotra, Dr. Manjeet Kaur, the former heads of Punjabi Department Prof. Balvir Singh and Dr. Harcharan Singh graced the occasion with their presence.
